My Favorite Parks for Toddlers

Toddlers are unpredictable and keep us on our toes. I know how anxious parents might be going on a trip to the park with little escape artists. On this list, I'm going to share a few of my favorite parks that give my toddler moms some peace of mind!

1. Logan's Community Playground (South County)

Logan's Community Playground is small and fully fenced in. The ground is turf and soft for little ones in the event of a fall. The equipment is age appropriate for toddlers and young children. I like the bright color scheme and the fact that this park is not so intimidating because it is on the smaller side.

2. Fillmore Park (Kirkwood)

Fillmore Park is a great place to bring your toddlers. Similar to Logan's, the playground area is pretty manageable in size and there is a fence all the way around. The grounding is turf and again makes a good environment for toddlers learning to walk. There is also a short walking path around the vicinity of the park.

3. DeMun Park (Clayton)

This one is a charmer. Located in the perfect spot to grab some coffee and chill on the playground. Below is an excerpt from Clayton Parks and Rec:

"DeMun Park, located at the corner of Southwood and DeMun, in the business district of the Demun Neighborhood is a neighborhood play area. There are 2 playgrounds available, one for children ages 2 to 5 and the other for 5 to 12 year olds. A decorative steel fence with a gate to keep the youngsters safe from traffic surrounds this 1/2-acre, level space. The winding walk around the central raised garden is a great path for little ones to ride their cycles. Benches provide an area for parents to talk while keeping an eye on their children. Large trees keep the park dappled in shade." -Clayton Parks and Rec Website

4. Oak Knoll Park

Oak Knoll is an excellent choice for toddlers! Fenced in with manageable equipment. I love the nature theme to the playground structure. This park is also beautiful for walking a paved trail. Below is a little info from Clayton Parks and Rec Website:

"Oak Knoll Park is located at the North West corner of the intersection of Clayton Road and Big Bend Blvd. Established in 1958; it is Clayton's second largest park with 14.5 acres of tranquil beauty. The park is home to a native stand of 150-year-old Post Oak trees for which it was named. The park has 2 picnic sites, one with seven tables near a large playground and the other with two tables next to a quiet pond. Half of the funding for the playground was provided by the Clayton Early Childhood Center."

5. Hartry Park

Hartry Park is great for toddlers because is small, fenced in and age appropriate play structures. I especially like that this one has a half basketball court and paved walking trail. Your little one can chalk, play ball, have a picnic, play on the playground etc. However, the bathroom situation here is tricky. There is a Jonny on the Spot so if your little one doesn't like porta-potties, you may want to consider bringing your own small potty.
